methyl (2E)-2-cyano-3-(dimethylamino)prop-2-enoate - Introduction
Methyl 3-(dimethylamino)-2-isocyanoacrylate, chemical formula C7H9NO2, often referred to as DMAPA.
Nature:
DMAPA is a colorless to yellowish oily liquid with a pungent odor. It can be dissolved in most organic solvents, such as methanol, ethanol and dimethylformamide. DMAPA has a low solubility in water.
Use:
DMAPA is primarily used as a chemical intermediate. It is commonly used in the synthesis of polyether polyurethane, polyester polyurethane, polyurethane concrete additives and polyvinyl alcohol. It can also be used as a raw material for plastic plasticizers, rubber accelerators, surfactants, printing dyes and adhesives.
Preparation Method:
The DMAPA can be produced by an isocyanation reaction. The specific step is to add dimethylamine to methyl isocyanate, and react to generate DMAPA. The reaction process needs to be carried out under appropriate temperature and stirring conditions.
Safety Information:
DMAPA is toxic and irritating to the skin, eyes and respiratory system. Wear protective gloves, goggles and masks when touching. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with water and seek medical treatment. Inhalation and ingestion should be avoided during operation. At the same time, DMAPA should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from open flames and heat sources.
